Choose the action before writing the headline
Write a short brief with the display location, the intended reader and one action. A storefront announcement, a timed promotion and an event entrance sign need different information. Use this checklist to remove details that compete with the main message.
| Banner job | Lead information | Check before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Grand opening | Business name, opening message, date | Location and date match the event |
| Sale or promotion | Offer and the action to take | Terms and end date are accurate |
| Event entrance | Event name and a clear direction | Arrow points the right way at installation |
Match the draft to the measured display space
Measure the available width and height, then use the banner calculator to compare the current options. A landscape 3 × 6 foot banner is 72 inches wide and 36 inches high. A 4 × 8 is 96 inches wide and 48 inches high. Both are 2:1 rectangles; a 2 × 6 layout has a different 3:1 shape. These are planning examples, not a guarantee that a size fits your site.
A layout can keep its proportions between two 2:1 sizes, but still needs a readability check where it will be displayed. For a different shape, rearrange the message rather than stretching the logo or filling the area by cropping contact information. Confirm mounting arrangements with the person installing it.
Approve the version that will actually be printed
Keep the editable original and export a clearly named final version for each event or location. Check the preview independently against the brief: a familiar design can hide an old phone number, expired offer or previous venue.
Check QR codes against the intended destination and at a realistic physical size. An attractive screen image does not prove that a distant viewer can read the text or scan the code. Review the selected dimensions, grommet count, quantity and current cart total; do not assume stands, ties, installation or unlisted finishing are included.
- Read names, dates, addresses and URLs aloud.
- Confirm any direction arrow from the real approach route.
- Inspect Fit or Fill for missing content.
- Check the selected banner file is the approved version.
Work backward from installation time
Start with the time the display must be installed. Allow time for mounting, travel or carrier transit, collection, production and any artwork correction. If several people approve the design, finish that review before the order deadline rather than expecting printing to wait inside a promised arrival window.
Our stated same-day production cutoff is 6 PM Central Time on business days, excluding holidays and closures, for eligible paid orders with usable artwork. Production is separate from carrier handoff and delivery. For Houston pickup, wait for the pickup-ready confirmation and confirm collection arrangements. Ask the shop before ordering if an event deadline leaves no room for a delay.
Common questions
Can I use the same file for every banner size?
Only after checking its proportions, source detail and layout at each size. Changing the shape may crop content or leave empty space; stretching is not a substitute for redesigning the layout.
Does the 6 PM cutoff guarantee my banner arrives before the event?
No. It concerns qualifying business-day production. Artwork readiness, collection or carrier transit and installation still need time in your plan.
