Check the item and the transfer
Start with a clean, dry surface free of dust, grease and loose material. Use a cleaning method suitable for that item; do not assume that a solvent safe on glass is safe on a coating or painted surface. Let any cleaning moisture dry.
Check the supplied transfer instructions and identify the backing and application film. If the layers are unclear or the film looks damaged, contact the shop before separating it.
- Measure and rehearse the position while the backing is still attached.
- Keep the transfer away from food-contact areas and drinking rims.
- Avoid seams, textured areas and abrupt curves.
- Do not promise yourself that a large wrap will follow a tapered cup.
Work slowly across the design
Following the instructions supplied with your order, remove the backing carefully so the design stays with its application film. Avoid touching the exposed adhesive. Align the transfer before making contact; repositioning can damage the design.
Apply steady pressure across the design, paying attention to small letters and separated details. Remove the application film slowly. If a detail lifts with the film, stop and check it rather than pulling through the problem. Do not apply heat to compensate for an unsuitable surface.
Choose conservative care
For decorated drinkware, gentle hand washing is the cautious starting point. Avoid soaking, harsh abrasion, dishwashers and microwave use unless the specific item and transfer instructions explicitly allow them. Do not turn a general water-resistance description into a promise about every wash method.
Adhesion depends on the surface and how it is used. Try a small area on an unfamiliar blank before ordering a large run. This checklist is general preparation advice, not a guarantee for every material or coating.
Common questions
Do I need a heat press for UV DTF?
No. These products are for peel-and-apply use on suitable smooth hard surfaces. Choose garment DTF for a fabric heat-press project.
Can I move it after it touches the cup?
Plan the position first. Lifting and repositioning an applied transfer may damage the design or its adhesion.
